Yayabiko is an extension of Yayabuddha. A Yayabuddha is a small plastic buddha sitting in a full lotus position, wearing a saffron robe, drinking an espresso while chatting on a cell phone. Basically, he’s a metaphor for life. We attempt things with gravity and seriousness but with the whimsy of a child at play. We yearn for the eternal yet fall prey to the modern and temporal. Yaya-ness vs Buddha-ness. The dichotomy of man summarized in a silly toy that I bought somewhere for $3.50.
I had to change the name to Yayabiko because, much to my surprise, few people knew how to spell Buddha. Go figure.
Where did you find this little Buddha?! I would LOVE one!!!
Yes, he is adorable! Where can I find one?
